Provenance: Private collection, New York; Sold Heritage Auctions Lot 64110 12/05/2013 We wish to thank Mr. Guy A. Wiggins for his gracious assistance in cataloguing this painting. In his letter of authenticity, which accompanies the lot, Mr. Wiggins writes, "My father probably painted this scene near our home in Lyme, Connecticut, where we lived part of the time during the nineteen twenties."

Notes: "Winter Brilliance" was painted by Guy Carleton Wiggins, in 1927. The painting is signed lower right: Guy Wiggins. Titled, signed, and dated verso: "Winter Brilliance" / Guy Wiggins / 1927 Inscribed on frame: Guy Wiggins / 226 W. 59th St. It has very fine craquelure in several clouds; board slightly bowed concavely; under UV examination, the blue pigment in the signature, in one dot of the center field, and in the lower left trunk of the far left tree fluoresces, but appears to be original pigment. Framed under glass. Framed Dimensions 17.75 X 22 Inches NOTE:Guy A. Wiggins letter of authenticity accompanies the painting.
