Notes: "The Library, 5th Avenue" by Guy Carleton Wiggins, was painted circa 1940. It is signed lower left: Guy Wiggins. Titled and signed verso: The Library / 5th Avenue / Guy Wiggins N.A. The painting is on original canvas with completely stable paint film; occasional flecked accretions along top, right, and bottom edges; reddish-brown 1.75" accretion in upper right corner; under UV examination, no evidence of restoration. Framed Dimensions 28 X 32 Inches NOTE: We wish to thank Mr. Guy A. Wiggins for his gracious assistance in cataloguing this painting. In his letter of authenticity, which accompanies this lot, Mr. Wiggins writes, "I believe it was painted between 1936 when [my father] became a National Academician and 1952 when double-deckers of the type shown here were withdrawn from service."
